I was born in Christchurch in 1955, and have worked as a psychiatrist since 1987. combining this with an academic career at the University of Otago, Christchurch. I retired from that position in 2022, which included being Director of the National Addiction Centre from 1996 to 2017, and now hold the position of Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry & Addiction Medicine within the University.
I am fortunate to be semi-retired with the time to expand expertise in psychotherapy by formally training in EFT. I greatly value the NZ Community of EFT therapists for ongoing support and inspiration. I draw on my experience as a husband, father, step-father, and grandfather, while primarily seeking to tune in to the unique set of issues and life circumstances that couples bring to therapy.”
